Mid-June already

A rough start to the day- grumbly. But the day went on okay. Thank goodness for coworkers and great club members.

The clean up staff at the gym is a Bosnian couple who were forced out of their country. Sad story, but they are fantastic people, very upbeat. This morning I turned the computer on to watch the football (soccer) match between New Zealand and Slovakia and the man stops to watch with me. Then he starts talking about the game and how it makes him feel. It was so great to hear, and to see his face light up... especially when he told about Ghana beating Serbia ;)

Not so miserable or tired to not get my workout in. I seemed to have done something to my quads, though. The upper part of the muscle is super tight and burns with the slightest bend of my leg. I can work through it, but it's not comfortable. Will do lots of stretching tonight.

Quads/Calves:

Warm-up: 4 minutes walk on treadmill/15 reps Leg Extension/15 reps squats with Smith Machine bar

Split Squats: 4 sets of 8 @ 20, 20, 30, 35 lbs plus SM bar
SS Squats: 4 sets of 8 @ Olympic bar, 65, 75, 75
Hack Squats: 4 sets; 2 of 8 @ 90 lbs; 2 of 10 @ 70 lbs
SS Hack Calf Raises: 4 sets; 2 of 15 @ 50 lbs; 2 of 15 @ 100 lbs
Leg Press: 4 sets of 12, 10, 6, 4 @ 90, 180, 270, 290 lbs
Toe Taps?: 4 sets of 15
SS Bosu Calf Raises: 4 sets of 15

Food was okay; I made a great turkey chilli last night for today. Yummy! Other than that, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, toast... but a member brought in this delectible chocolate croissant fresh from the bakery up the street this morn. I held off til after my workout to eat it-- simple sugar after a workout = insulin spike. Good? Well, it tasted great! (only had half though)

And washed it all down with 3 litres of water (so far today and it's only 5).

On the right track. Another week or so and will be back to the real business. No more croissants, fried potatoes or lattes ;)
